Our Terroirs
The Domaine de la Voie Blanche brings together two distinct terroirs in the Périgord Noir, each giving the wines a unique identity.
Le Petit Manoir and Les Joualles come from the hillsides overlooking Saint-Cyprien and Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, on soils formed from the powerful limestone layers of the Dordogne valley, dating back to the Upper Cretaceous period, around 88 million years ago.
The slope and its south-east exposure favor a slow and balanced ripening of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and an old local grape variety once known in the Périgord Noir as Bourdalès (Mansois or Fer).
These clay-limestone soils bring structure, power, and aromatic freshness to the wines.
La Source and D’une Source Oubliée come from the river terraces of pebbles and sand, with a clay subsoil exceptionally rich in minerals, located on the right bank of the Vézère River in La Bachellerie.
This softer and more filtering terroir produces wines that are refined, generous, and luminous.
By bringing together these two terroirs within the Domaine de la Voie Blanche, we offer wine lovers a fascinating journey through the different flavors that these ancient lands of the Périgord Noir provide.
The Domaine de la Voie Blanche has always practiced organic farming, gradually evolving toward permaculture, allowing the vines to grow in harmony with nature. Hand harvesting, beyond its convivial spirit, reflects this commitment and guarantees impeccable grape quality when they reach the vats.
A cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by careful management of the fermentation process, allows the natural aromas of the grapes to be extracted, staying as close as possible to the quality that these terroirs offer.
