In 1956, archaeologists discovered a chai (or winery) between Beynac and Saint-Cyprien which dated from the 1st century A.D. - thus proving that this part of the Dordogne valley, in the heart of the Périgord Noir, was one of the oldest wine regions in France.
Towards the end of the 19th century, the phylloxera disaster destroyed almost all the vines. Then, in 1923, Bergerac excluded Saint-Cyprien from AOC status. After these two heavy setbacks, only a few patches of local vines survived.
Recently, the Dalbavie family decided to undertake the rebirth of a vineyard on what had been traditional wine-growing territory in the middle of Perigord noir, the "Domaine de la Voie Blanche".

Re-planting at Saint-Cyprien was carried out in two phases (in 2006, then in 2007). At the same time, the Domaine de la Voie Blanche was expanded by old vines of Merlot, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the beautiful slopes of Montravel, westernmost part of the Bergerac wine region.
